My dad would slice an x into the bottom of the artichokes, about 1/4 of thickness of the hear. They would cook a little faster. Then when the outer leaves meat portion, ( part closes to the base), were tender it was served with mayo or Miracle Whip ( preferred tast). I can’t wait to batter and fry one!
